Foundation and Partner Buy Students Lunch and New Shoes For Holiday Season

Cincinnati, OH – Christmas comes early for Oyler School students on November 28th when the Anthony Muñoz Foundation takes them out for lunch at LaRosa’s Pizzeria and buys them new shoes at Payless Shoe Source. Thanks to the Foundation’s partner, Links Unlimited, 30 students are receiving a new pair of shoes, for free, to keep them warm this winter.

From 10:45 a.m. to 12 noon, students have the exclusive opportunity to work alongside Mike and Mark LaRosa in the kitchen to create their own customized personal pizzas at LaRosa’s Pizzeria on Boudinot Avenue.

Shoegiving continues with an individualized shopping experience at Payless Shoe Source on Glenway Avenue from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Meg Flannery, District Leader and Angie Hunt, Store Manager host and help the students pick out and try on new gym shoes or winter boots. Volunteers from Links Unlimited participate in Shoegiving by assisting the children throughout the event.

“After being a part of the Anthony Muñoz Foundation’s Shoegiving event last year, we immediately knew that we wanted to sponsor it again,” says Scott Kooken, Links Unlimited President, “Seeing how excited and thankful the children were while making their own pizzas followed by selecting a pair of shoes was incredibly rewarding. The smiles and hugs warmed our hearts. We are so thankful for the opportunity to support the Anthony Muñoz Foundation’s efforts to engage and nurture the youth in our community.”

This is the 8th year the Foundation has worked with LaRosa’s and Payless for Shoegiving. This is just one of many Anthony Muñoz Foundation programs that aims to impact at-risk youth in the Tri-State.
